This website is part of the CEOP Education programme and run by the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Education team (NCA-CEOP).

We have developed this website to make sure it is usable by everyone, whatever their ability or disability.

How accessible is this website

We have built this website to be accessible with common assistive technologies and different ways of using websites.

This means:

  • You can move around and use most of the website without a mouse, by using a keyboard or assistive technology such as speech recognition or a screen reader
  • You can increase the font size or zoom in on content
  • You can change the colours or the fonts

We have also used plain English principles to make our content clear and easy to understand.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non accessible content

We know that parts of this website are not fully accessible.

  • Screen readers are unable to read some buttons and drop down lists as they don’t have any text so the user does not know what they do
  • Screen readers are unable to describe the search because currently there is no label, and new search results are not announced after updating
  • Colour contrast needs to be changed to meet AA requirements, this is an issue for users with colour sight issues
  • There are issues with navigation features which fails to hover for keyboard, mouse and touch users
  • The carousel menus and accordions do not work for keyboard users and some screen readers and does not tell how many and what slide is being displayed
  • Checkboxes are formatted incorrectly for screen readers, so they don't understand hey are part of a field set

Video content

The following are some potential problems we are working to improve:

  • embedded video and audio players can sometimes be difficult to use with assistive technology.
  • not all our older videos have captions and/or transcripts
  • not all our videos have audio descriptions

We have some existing pre-recorded video content that was published before the 23 September 2020. This content is also exempt from the regulations.

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix [example of non-essential document].

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

This website is currently being redesigned and a new website will be launched in later 2023.

We are woking to correct any non-compliances as soon as possible.

Technical information

This statement was prepared on 31 March 2022.

This website was last tested on 21 February 2020. The test was carried out by Netcel.

The level of accessibility was tested by running automated and manual tests that determined where areas of the site may be difficult for users with a wide variety of accessibility needs may have trouble accessing content.

We did manual and automatic report generation testing to determine where the sites didn’t comply with the desired accessibility level according to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

For automated reporting we used:

  • Lighthouse in Google Chrome
  • WAVE chrome plugin

For manual testing we used:

  • Chrome web developer tools
  • NVDA Screen reader (desktop screen reader)
  • Talkback for Android (mobile screen reader)
  • WCAG contrast checker.

We tested inputs for:

  • Mouse (desktop)
  • Keyboard (desktop)
  • Touch (mobile and desktop)
  • Swipe (mobile screen readers)
