Play Like Share
The Play Like Share films are designed to be viewed by primary aged children in the context of at least three learning sessions, based on the plans in the accompanying resource pack, available in one downloadable resource file.
The series follows the adventures of Alfie, Ellie and Sam as they form a band and enter their school’s Battle of the Bands contest, taking on the mean but ‘cool’ Popcorn Wizards as they go. The three friends learn that while the internet can help them in pursuit of their goal, they need to use it wisely and safely and that ultimately, doing your best, including others and nurturing genuine friendship is much more important than how popular you are.
Play Like Share aims to give children the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to:
• Identify signs of manipulative, pressurising or threatening behaviour online.
• Respond safely if they think someone is trying to manipulate, pressure or threaten them.
• Understand their rights online, and respect those of others.
• Take measures to control their privacy and digital footprint.
• Get help from an appropriate source if they need it.
Play Like Share is aimed at children aged between 8-10 years old. As children of this age vary immensely in terms of maturity, development and the kind of online activities they are engaging in, there are two alternative sets of session plans. Each set contains three sessions with identical learning objectives, explored at different levels.
Four optional sessions draw out further learning from the films and are available for use with particularly risk-taking or vulnerable children.
The accompanying resource pack contains guidance on delivering Play Like Share which includes; session plans, photocopiable resources, workbooks and resources for professionals as well as parents and carers.
A trailer for Play Like Share is available in the downloadable file, which can be used to promote the resource to Parents and Carers.
