Introductory e-learning course

Keeping Children Safe Online (KCSO) will help you develop your knowledge on how children and young people use the internet, and how to help keep them safer from abuse. KCSO is a joint initiative between the NSPCC and NCA CEOP Education aimed at any professional working directly with children and young people.

KCSO focuses on the issues that children and young people face online as well as the challenges we face as professionals to protect and educate them.

The KCSO modules cover:

  • how children and young people use the internet and technology
  • the risks children and young people face online
  • harmful content online
  • bullying online
  • online radicalisation and extremism
  • sharing images (sexting)
  • sexual offending against children and young people online
  • supporting parents and carers
  • supporting children and young people

Each section takes 25-30 minutes to complete, taking approximately four hours to complete in total. Each section is followed by a series of questions, and at the end you'll be given a full explanation of the correct and incorrect answers. Once you've successfully completed the course you can download a personalised certificate of achievement.

Course costs:

  • 1-9 licenses: £30.00 each
  • 10-49 licenses: £27.00 each
  • 50-99 licenses: £25.50 each
  • 100-999 licenses: £24.00 each

All proceeds go to the NSPCC. The e-learning modules can be completed at your convenience, making it a time and cost effective alternative to face-to-face training.

Here’s what professionals have to say about the course…

I feel more assured that I am on the right track to support children online. I understand more why children take risks and how to support them. I want to include E-safety in our school website and hold a parents/carers night.

I shall seek opportunities to cascade to colleagues, to encourage website development so that our website guides people to appropriate support. I shall update Safeguarding Lead with ideas suggested as action points in this training.”

I have already looked through some of the links provided and intend to integrate them into future PSHE lessons.”

"The links within the course alone will hugely benefit the organisation and what to do."
